I have the Cooties….Still!

I apologize for my lack of posts lately.  I’m sick…..and I don’t seem to be getting better.  Everyone else takes medicine and gets better.  Me?  I take medicine, feel slightly better and then seem to develop a whole new set of symptoms.  Thankfully due to better living through chemistry, my wicked sore throat is gone, but now I seem to have a major head cold including some painful sneezes – the kind that feel like someone punched you in the chest right as you ah-choo.  But, we are planning a little party for this weekend.  I’ll give you a hint.  So stay tuned for details.

I'm Fragile!

I'M SICK

I'M SICK

I’m officially sick.  And I’ve officially decided that I’m fragile.  One chilly afternoon outside without a coat, being exposed to a kid with sniffles and getting the flu shot this week have all done me in.  Now, I’ve got head & chest congestion, a nasty cough, mad sniffles and a nose that is trying to run away from me.  AND it isn’t even winter yet!  UGH!  I’m hoping this is not an indication of things to come.  I’m already doing the Heebie jeebie swine flu stay away ritual. Then, I’m going to the doctor for drugs and Whole Foods for vitamins!  Stay well, friends.

The Flu Shot

Today I got my flu shot.  The last time I had a flu shot was 7 years ago.  You know why?  Because that was the last time I had the flu.  I only ever seem to get the flu when I get the flu shot.  Against my better judgement and only due to this swine flu mess, I decided to get the flu shot this year.  Also, because CheezWaster has entered  the germ zone nursery school.  Needless to say, I already feel headachey and just unwell.  I had a bit of a sniffle and sore throat this morning, which the nurse said was fine, so now I’m wondering if this is the dreaded “flu shot” year for me or if it is just a cold (or psychosomatic reaction).  We shall see.  Needless to say (and after having read far too much information about it), I’m not getting the swine flu shot.

House of Plague

My house/family has again been hit by the plague – the 2nd time this year.  It generally starts with CheezWaster getting the croup.  Thankfully, the first time the plague hit the house, The Sleep Deprivator, who was just a wee tot then, missed out.  I, however, got it full blown and was sick for 2 months.  I suspect the same thing will happen with Round #2.  CheezWaster refuses help from anyone except Mommy (imagine the whining EVERY SINGLE TIME he says Mommy…UGGH!) – he proceeds to lay all over me demanding that I hold him, rock him, pick him up and then proceeds to snot all over me.  Then he stealthly moves onto The Sleep Deprivator.  He makes it look like they are playing but really he just blows germs in his face and touches him all over.  The Sleep Deprivator proceeds to stick his hands (and feet – oh how he loves his feet) in his mouth and then snots all over me.  Do we see a pattern here???  Today, I was graced with more bodily fluids than I care to mention on this blog.  I already feel sick and CheezWaster is sleeping downstairs on the sofa which means I get to sleep upright in the chair (AGAIN!).  It isn’t bad enough that I wind up in the chair when I fall asleep feeding The Sleep Deprivator at night, but now I am forced to be there due to the Plague/Creeping Crud (the actual term my doctor used the last time I was sick) that is festering in this house (and I’m sure now my body).  I suppose I wouldn’t be half as sick as I’m going to be if The Sleep Deprivator would actually allow me to sleep more than 3 hours at a clip. But sadly, this is my hell reality for the moment.  I’m hoping to keep up with the blog this week, but if posts are slow, it is because the plague has made its mighty return.  Wish me well!
