My dad has diabetes. Type 2. Because he is fat. This week he was told he now needs to take insulin. He doesn’t want to exercise and still thinks he doesn’t eat wrong. He is not eating the wrong things, just too much. The news was enough incentive for me to get up at the ungodly hour of 5:21 am (if you know me then you know about my alarm clock paranoia and are laughing now!) this morning to exercise. I thought I should bust out the exercise set my husband gave me for Christmas 2009 - you know…..before this Christmas arrives.
I really enjoyed this kickboxing video. There are several workouts on this one DVD and each is 10 minutes. They are not difficult, though I did have moments of spasticness (is that a word?!) this morning, but I think that was just because I was still half asleep. I did the first 2 workouts on the video today (yeah-yeah - 20 minutes isn’t that much, but in my shape, you’ve got to start light!). You can also customize your workout on the DVD by selecting which individual 10 minute sessions you want to do and in what order. I also liked the instructor. Unlike every other exercise instructor I’ve ever had, I didn’t want to feed her a donut. Don’t get me wrong, she has a banging body, but not that too skinny, I exercise 5 hours a day look. She was motivating. Not too perky, not too militant and not too snarky like my Wii Fit. I’m going to get up and exercise with this video. I want to show my dad that it can be done and that it doesn’t take much effort. I want him to lose weight with me and I want him to stop needing so many pills and insulin to treat a disease that he doesn’t need to have in the first place.
