Another day without fun

The days seem longer since the peacock attack.  I know that is partly because I can’t really do anything fun with CheezWaster for a few weeks.  The the poor, little guy just doesn’t understand why.  He understands that his lip has a boo-boo and tells hilarious stories about how the peacock jumped on his head, but he doesn’t understand why we can’t go chase bunnies at the park or why we can’t go to gymnastics.  All sports are considered full-contact for toddlers (even running in the park) and therefore, we are not allowed any athletic fun for 3 weeks which seems like an eternity to CheezWaster (and me).  So, we embarked on a crafting journey to AC Moore today (watch out grandmas – mad crafts coming your way!).  We found a bunch of great $1 crafts from the Nicole Crafts people (cool name by the way – hee hee!) and CheezWaster had a blast looking at all of the Halloween stuff that is already out (UGH!)  He even asked me if he could get a plastic toy peacock (and monkey).  How could I not let him.  I don’t want him to have a fear of peacocks.  The funniest part about our trip today was that on the way home, he was playing with the monkey and the peacock and he was reenacting the attack using the monkey in place of himself.  He was laughing.  This is a good sign.   Perhaps someday he’ll be able to enjoy the peacocks again.  Someday…………

Post Party Exhaustion!

Well, the baby shower was a huge success – or so I thought anyway.  Big thanks to the girls that came early and helped me!  YOU GUYS ROCK!!!  As promised here are the “stages” pictures of the diaper cake.  I tried making one of these once before and got so frustrated before I even got the first layer finished.  The trick, I found out, is 1) to have something tall in the middle.  I’ve seen a few websites that suggest a bottle of wine or champagne.  The Johnson’s gift set I used also worked well. 2) I put my diapers together in twos.  This made it very simple to make circles around the gift set rather than clumps.  3) I stuck the decorations (rattles and infant car seat hang chimes on with pipe cleaners.  These worked great at holding the stuff in and jammed into the diapers nicely without damaging them.

Par-tay!!!

This weekend I’m having a baby shower at my house for my dear friend Danielle (who was a total lifesaver when the Sleep Deprivator was born!).  Last night, I made my first ever diaper cake.  Below is the picture of the final product.  I’ll put up directions and more stage pictures in my next post.  This one is a quickie since I must go clean up my house.  Somehow no matter how many toys I pick up off the floor, it still looks like someone threw up Toys R Us all over my floor.  Sometimes I think when the toys get drooled upon, they multiply.  My Fisher Price Laugh ‘N Learn Puppy is totally going Chucky on me.  I changed the battery and the damn thing still talks after I’ve shut it off.
