Dirty Secret No. 1 in Obamacare
by  Chuck Norris
08/11/2009

Health care reforms are turning into health care revolts. Americans are turning up the heat on congressmen in town hall meetings across the U.S.

While watching these political hot August nights, I decided to research the reasons so many are opposed to Obamacare to separate the facts from the fantasy. What I discovered is that there are indeed dirty little secrets buried deep within the 1,000-plus page health care bill.

Dirty secret No. 1 in Obamacare is about the government’s coming into homes and usurping parental rights over child care and development.

It’s outlined in sections 440 and 1904 of the House bill (Page 838), under the heading “home visitation programs for families with young children and families expecting children.” The programs (provided via grants to states) would educate parents on child behavior and parenting skills.

The bill says that the government agents, “well-trained and competent staff,” would “provide parents with knowledge of age-appropriate child development in cognitive, language, social, emotional, and motor domains … modeling, consulting, and coaching on parenting practices,” and “skills to interact with their child to enhance age-appropriate development.”

Are you kidding me?! With whose parental principles and values? Their own? Certain experts’? From what field and theory of childhood development? As if there are one-size-fits-all parenting techniques! Do we really believe they would contextualize and personalize every form of parenting in their education, or would they merely universally indoctrinate with their own?

Are we to assume the state’s mediators would understand every parent’s social or religious core values on parenting? Or would they teach some secular-progressive and religiously neutered version of parental values and wisdom? And if they were to consult and coach those who expect babies, would they ever decide circumstances to be not beneficial for the children and encourage abortions?

One government rebuttal is that this program would be “voluntary.” Is that right? Does that imply that this agency would just sit back passively until some parent needing parenting skills said, “I don’t think I’ll call my parents, priest or friends or read a plethora of books, but I’ll go down to the local government offices”? To the contrary, the bill points to specific targeted groups and problems, on Page 840: The state “shall identify and prioritize serving communities that are in high need of such services, especially communities with a high proportion of low-income families.”

Are we further to conclude by those words that low-income families know less about parenting? Are middle- and upper-class parents really better parents? Less neglectful of their children? Less needful of parental help and training? Is this “prioritized” training not a biased, discriminatory and even prejudicial stereotype and generalization that has no place in federal government, law or practice?

Bottom line: Is all this what you want or expect in a universal health care bill being rushed through Congress? Do you want government agents coming into your home and telling you how to parent your children? When did government health care turn into government child care?

Government needs less of a role in running our children’s lives and more of a role in supporting parents’ decisions for their children. Children belong to their parents, not the government. And the parents ought to have the right — and government support — to parent them without the fed’s mandates, education or intervention in our homes.

Kids are very important to my wife, Gena, and me. That’s why we’ve spent the past 17 years developing our nonprofit  KICK START program in public schools in Texas. It builds up their self-esteem and teaches them respect and discipline. Of course, whether or not they participate in the program is their and their parents’ choice.

How contrary is Obamacare’s home intrusion and indoctrination family services, in which state agents prioritize houses to enter and enforce their universal values and principles upon the hearts and minds of families across America?

Government’s real motives and rationale are quite simple, though rarely, if ever, stated. If one wants to control the future ebbs and flows of a country, one must have command over future generations. That is done by seizing parental and educational power, legislating preferred educational methods and materials, and limiting private educational options. It is so simple that any socialist can understand it. As Josef Stalin once stated, “Education is a weapon whose effects depend on who holds it in his hands and at whom it is aimed.”

Before so-called universal health care turns into universal hell care, write or call your representative today and protest his voting Obamacare into law. Remind him that what is needed in Washington is a truly bipartisan group that is allowed an ample amount of time to work on a compromise health care law that wouldn’t raise taxes (for anyone), regulate personal medical choices, ration health care or restrict American citizens.

Clearly, you’re the kind of person who could use some “government intervention” in this department. The fact is, none of the programs cited here are mandatory. They are optional services that people in need can have access to without going bankrupt. You need to find some more objective sources for your information than a has-been TV actor who hates the President.

The scare tactics being used by Norris, Sarah Palin and those who are against health care reform are shameful. She and Michelle Malkin particularly are blatant liars who routinely pick up on every rumor there is about the bills in Congress, never bothering to get the real facts about any of them and conveniently ignoring key passages which don’t suit their opportunistic agendas.

At the end of the day, these people are so angry that the country has a black president that they are willing to say just about anything, no matter how false, to get the rubes and cornpones up in arms. Before anybody listens to a word any of these people has to say about any subject, especially health care reform, you should visit PolitiFact.com or FactCheck.org. There, you will see just how many “Pants-On-Fire” awards these so-called pundits have been awarded for telling outright lies that have been designed to incite uninformed, gullible people like you who are being spoon-fed half-truths and lies by activists who have a political agenda.

The fact is, the status quo of medical care in this country is unacceptable. The United States is now 37th in the world in health care quality, despite spending nearly twice as much on it than the next largest spender. It’s even lower on the list in life expectancy. Slovenia has a better health care system that we do. Health care costs are spiraling higher, while wages remain stagnant, and insurance companies, who are funding people like Palin and Malkin, make billions in profits each year.

The flip side is that millions of hard-working Americans will go bankrupt every year because they couldn’t afford medical coverage. Nearly 50 million people in this country do not have medical insurance. Just whom do you people think pays for their care when they visit an emergency room? The Tooth Fairy? Who picks up the tab when people go bankrupt? The Easter Bunny? You and I are going to pay for it, sweetie. And, as medical costs keep spiraling out of control, Medicare is going to get in trouble, too. Do nothing, and we’ll all be visiting witch doctors when we get colon cancer.

The fact is, the more people who are covered by medical insurance, the more people are paying premiums. The more people who are paying premiums means lower premiums for everybody because of the enlarged pool being covered. When the government offers the “public option” (underline “option”), it will provide an incentive to insurance companies to be more competitive and reduce costs. That is capitalism at work, not socialism.

Right now, we have a form of corporate socialism, which dictates which doctors you can see and which conditions can be treated. Insurance companies already have their own “death panels”, which are administered by non-physician actuaries. In the current bills before Congress, these so-called ‘end-of-life’ panels are completely optional and NOT required. It’s just medical counseling that is there if your family needs it. Under the reform bills now being considered, no doctor, nurse, technician or therapist would be on the government payroll, and no citizen would be told which doctor to use.

Those who are against health care reform are either blithering idiots or ideological zombies who can’t stand the idea of this administration succeeding at anything, even when it could benefit them. Politics of the self-destructive. But don’t take my word for it. Visit PolitiFact.com. This is a non-partisan, Pulitzer prize-winning website that separates fact from rumor. If you’re not afraid of the truth, go there. If you are afraid of the truth, maybe it’s time to re-examine your motives and ask yourself exactly why you’re wrapping the American flag around bald-faced liars like Chuck Norris, Michelle Malkin and Sarah Palin.

While I appreciate your opinion, you clearly have no respect for anyone else’s - which is typically a democratic trait. I consider myself neither a republican nor democrat, agreeing with many issues from both sides. However, I’m tired of fast-tracked, no-thought garbage being pushed through by government (look at how their financial plan turned out. they gave failing banks money to stay in business and they in turn paid bonuses to workers - BRILLIANT job on this side of our government - and YES, I have a finance degree. I don’t want to be told what to do by my government, especially by one for which I did not vote. And if so many people are blundering idiots, why is it that so many are showing up to oppose this healthcare plan - if they were idiots, they wouldn’t care and wouldn’t know what to oppose. I work hard for what I have and I’m finding that the more this government does, the more I have to pay for - so that other people who 1) don’t work at all or 2) don’t even belong in this country legally can have the same rights as me. What is fair about that? Millions of people in this country go bankrupt because they live far beyond their means, not because of healthcare or lack of it. Oh and speaking of paying healthcare bills - case in point - my own brother, who busts his ass being self employed, has no healthcare. Guess who is still paying his hospital bill from a few years ago??? - that’s right - it is him. He got no charity, no help, nothing. And since you think that anyone who opposes this bill must be afraid of our black president or a racist, I’ll go right ahead and say it, that perhaps that is because he is a hard-working, white American (who incidentally brings USA made products and jobs to OUR country). And I suspect, that you, while you sit here making all of these comments, has insurance from your employer. If you actually read anything more than this one post on my blog, you would know that I am already partaking in free, voluntary services for my child. This is option I have chosen. These services already exist to assist people - and not just low-income folks, a group in which I don’t fit. And where do you think the grant money is coming from? I’d bet it is from your tax dollars. Please don’t think that only republicans and celebrities are against this bill. And half of the European countries DON’T have better health plans than we do. They have different plans than us - that in some respects are better, but fall short in others. No country can say they have the perfect healthcare plan - including the USA. And I can say this definitively after having lived in Germany and experiencing European healthcare firsthand. If you think this plan is great, then fine. You have the right to your opinion. But, I also have the right to mine and I really hope that this garbage doesn’t get passed. Oh and by the way - when you have to succomb to China’s healthcare after Obama sells off the rest of our country to them, I hope you have as much faith in that one as you do in Obama’s.

If the so called government really was interested in “fixing” the problems, why is it that Obama specifically told the AMA in his speech that he would not address tort reform? In addition 10-20 million (who really knows) illegals HAVE to be taken care of at our hospitals whether they pay or not! that is the law.

Taking care of these 2 issues in addition to addressing the major fraud in Medicaid and Medicare will fix the majority of what is wrong. We need to address these, not ram a new bureaucracy through in quick time. When has a government department ever done ANYTHING in an efficient manner? When has it ever cost less over time? Get it???

Almost forgot, speaking of lies. How about Obama claiming that AARP had endorsed the plan the other day?? They never did!!
